Research Interests

Global Optimization

Currently, I am writing the electronic bookGlobal Optimization Algorithms – Theory and Application” about global optimization techniques such as evolutionary computation, evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolution strategy, learning classifier systems, random optimization, simulated annealing, ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization and so on.
Furthermore, I am developing the sigoa-framework providing (some of) these algorithms in Java.

Genetic Programming for Distributed Systems

This project is the foundation for the DGPF, the distributed genetic programming framework, with which I am researching ways that allow synthesizing distributed algorithms automatically. As part of this work I am testing and trying different methods of genetic programming, from high-level to assembler-like to rule-based approaches in for their utility for breeding distributed algorithms.

Teaching

As a part of my job I take part in research and training.
