RoboCup

Description

We have set up a team of robots at our department that were designed to act completely autonomous. This is a perfect environment to conduct research in the areas of

  • mobile systems,
  • autonomous systems,
  • intelligent group behavior,
  • group communication, and
  • security in group interaction.

In the precision engineering department

In tight cooperation with the precision engineering department we have developed a lean robot platform based on standard components. For decision making, navigation, vision processing, and all the tasks an autonomous robot has to accomplish, a powerful laptop computer is available in each robot. The vision system, the motion as well as the kicking devices do not have a preferred direction. The first two devices are completely omnidirectional.

The software architecture is written in C# and C++. It is a highly distributed software system with a very lean and fault-tolerant communication infrastructure.

We are taking part in the RoboCup community and the annual championships.
